Some costs move with output
Variable costs change with activity; total fixed costs stay stable within a relevant range.
The idea
Fixed does not mean permanent. Rent may stay unchanged for a month while packaging rises with every extra order.
An example
Selling one more meal needs extra ingredients but may not change this month's rent.
Put it into practice
Separate costs per extra unit from costs of keeping the operation open.
